Choosing the right Media Blast sandcarving model

sandcarver buying guide

Siphon machines use an injector gun to create suction on the abrasive supply hose. The abrasive hose then conveys the mixture of abrasive and air to the gun where the compressed air supply line and air jet is used to accelerate the abrasive velocity. All siphon type machines include two hoses on the abrasive blast gun assembly. Siphon machines are the most common type of blast machines. All Media Blast CrystalEtch machines include a media-mixing valve for adjustment of the blast media to the gun assembly.

Siphon machines operate with less frictional heat and higher blasting pressures to maintain abrasive grain velocity.

Wider patterns make siphon correct for surface etch only on larger open areas. Siphon delivery will create a more uniform etched surface pattern on the part surface.

Direct Pressure machines use a pressure vessel to pneumatically push the blast media through a single abrasive hose and out the blast nozzle.

This delivery system concentrates the abrasive and creates greater frictional heat making carving possible. Because the direct pressure system pneumatically pushes the blast media it is possible to carve into blind holes making the direct pressure method better for any process requiring deep surface carving unlike siphon systems.

All direct pressure machines double the particle velocity at any blasting pressure. Processing with the direct pressure system requires lowering the blasting pressure by 50% to prevent normal mask damage...

Because of the concentrated pattern it is possible to direct the abrasive to the open area of the mask removing stress from any mask material being used.

Use for surface etch and carving with abrasive 120-240 mesh.

Existing Delivery permits purchase of the cabinet, dust collector, lights and all the items required for neat clean operation of already existing abrasive delivery systems. Clean up that mess and use a MicroBlast machine.

The MicroBlast cabinet includes all the standard features included with the CrystalBlast and CrystalEtch machine except the abrasive delivery system. The dust collector and separator reclaimer keep the abrasive clean and inside the cabinet where you use the hopper slide gate to discharge the collected abrasive back into the pot or hopper for reuse. An ideal machine for pencil blast generators because this unit supplies all other needed items.

Media Blast supplies the machine ... you supply the delivery method, pot ... siphon ... pencil.
